Alexandria Overnight From Cairo

Take the opportunity while you are in Cairo and enjoy a private day tour to explore the most important sites of Alexandria with our egyptologist guide to reveal the mystery of ancient Alexandria.

Day 1 : Depart Cairo to Alexandria /  the catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa/ Lunch / Alexandria Bibliotheca 

 

 

After breakfast you driver will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo to start your drive to alexandria ( About 3 to 4  HRS drive with a stop in the way ), once you arrive Alexandria you will meet your tour guide to start your  tour to 

 

  • visit the catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa ( mound of shards ) which is a 26 AD burial site , discovered in 1900 when a donkey fell into one of the tombs, the Catacombs which is the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut into the rock.

 

  • Then you will break for lunch in a sea view restaurant .

 

  • After Lunch visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which was reborn in October 2002 consider to be a major cultural and Library centre . (Note : the library has many museums inside with extra ticket if you would like to visit )

 

  • visit the Qaitbay Fortress which was built on the site of the ancient pharos lighthouse of Alexandria considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

 

After finishing your tour , you will be driven to your hotel to check-in for 1 night.

Day 2 : Pompey's Pillar / The Roman Amphitheater / Graeco-Roman museum/ Qaitbay Citadel & Fortress 

 

 

  • After breakfast you will check-out the hotel and start your visit to Pompey's Pillar raised in 300 AD in honor of the Emperor Diocletian who saved the city from famine prior to his massive Christian persecution.

 

  • Then visit the Roman amphitheater, which is one of the most popular monuments in Alexandria , was discovered by accident in 1960 .

 

  • Enjoy a visit to The Graeco-Roman Museum of Alexandria officially open in October after renovations, the museum is one of Egypt's principal museums, the oldest building in Egypt to be architecturally designed for the purpose of preserving and displaying antiquities. Furthermore, it is the only museum fully dedicated to the antiquities and civilization of Egypt during the Greek and Roman eras

 

 

After finishing your tour , you will be driven back in comfort and safety to your hotel in Cairo.
