Do I need a Visa.
Visitors to Egypt must have a passport valid for at least six months after their arrival and all foreign citizens must obtain a visa to enter Egypt. You can apply for a tourist visa at any Egyptian embassy or consulate around the world. Travelers from United States can purchase a 1-month entry visa without application upon arrival in Egypt: United States. This only takes a few minutes to do at a bank window before you go through customs. The cost for this is usually $25.00
Egypt generally has three types of entry visas.
Entry visa--valid for one month; given to any non-Egyptian citizen entering the country without a previously purchased visa
Transit visa--given to any non-Egyptian citizen entering the country for a limited period of time for transit reasons
Tourist visa--valid for up to 3 months and available with single or multiple entries; purchased by the majority of visitors to Egypt from a Egyptian embassy or consulate before arriving in Egypt.

The official currency of Egypt is the Egyptian pound, and commonly abbreviated as LE. One Egyptian pound is 100 piastres, there are banknotes of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 LE and there are coins of 25 piastres, 50 piastres, and 1 pound. It can sometimes be difficult to find change for large bills so it is always advisable to have change on hand for taxis and tips.
There are many Bank and Exchange shops in Egypt that will be able to exchange Dollars, Euros and GBP. You will be able to exchange money when you get there. It is good to bring some cash to spend if you want. Make sure your bills that you bring are newer bills. If you are using hundreds (even for exchange) make sure they are the newer ones. You can use credits cards there if you are making a bigger purchase. But mostly they like cash. Things are relatively inexpensive there. Ahmed will give you talk about the currency when you arrive. You do not need to exchange money before you get to Egypt.

What types of clothes do we need?
There aren’t really special clothes to be put on while visiting a mosque in Egypt; however, modest dress would be highly recommended and in some mosques, women will be asked to cover their hair and perhaps their arms and legs. Both women and men will be asked to remove their shoes before entering a mosque.
Tourists allowed to enter the Christian monuments in Egypt, churches are treated the same as mosques. Most churches and monasteries welcome tourists and foreigners, except during Lent. Modest dress is also advisable while visiting Christian monuments in Egypt.
The weather in the winter months is not too hot but can get warm. Temps will range from 50 to 85 degrees. You might not need a jacket but a warm sweater is good to have especially on the cruise.
Weather in the summer months will be very hot. You can where shorts and a sun cover shirt and hats.
Bring a swimsuit if you like to swim we might get to swim in the Nile River but there are also pools at the hotels and the cruise. Women should bring a scarf or shawl, it is proper to cover your head in some of the places we go. We will do a bit of walking so good shoes are advised. If you are some who cannot walk far there are either carts or way to not have to walk as far.
What about medical issues?
Bring all your medications. Bring the small packets of Kleenex you will want them when you use the toilets. They do have pharmacies there.
